The Boston Terrier. Complete Information You Need.

By Craig Perrin

There is a reason the Boston Terrier is a popular dog in the United States. He's a sweet, cute canine that enjoys the attention he derives from his human friends.

General Appearance and Description

The Boston Terrier is an intelligent and mannered dog.

They are gentle dogs that enjoy feeling like they are part of the family.

Boston Terrier are small-size dogs that have small, erect ears, short and wide muzzles and dark, large eyes. They are clean-looking dogs with straight and muscular limbs.

The coat of a Boston Bull Terrier is typically brindle and white, or black and white. Some Boston Terrier puppies are brown and white.

Basic Temperament

Your Boston Terrier will be sensitive to the tone of your voice, and will feed off the energy in the home. They can be rambunctious and loud, or calm and quiet. Much depends on the mood of the house, the quality of any training the Boston Terrier has had, and whether or not a pack leader exists in the house.

The Boston Bull Terrier is a good watch dog as most will believe their home to be their castle and will do their utmost to protect it.

Care Required

Boston Terrier dogs and puppies are easy to groom. Their short, smooth coat requires little attention. You should bathe your Bull Terrier only when necessary and comb or brush only as needed.

The only daily grooming required is a wipe down with a damp cloth, especially in the eye area.

Not an ideal breed for those with allergies, the Boston Terrier sheds an average amount of hair for its breed.

Exercise Requirements

If your Boston Terrier Breeders Dogs isn't given adequate physical and mental stimulation, he could become high strung and troublesome.

Instead, Boston Terrier breeders will recommend that you give your dog a long daily walk and regular play sessions.

This breed will generally do well living in a house with a yard or in an apartment as long as his daily activity needs are met.

Training

The intelligent Boston Terrier takes well to being trained. He understands your commands easily and loves to please you. These dogs are very sensitive and response to the human voice.

Be sure that you train the Boston Bull Terrier with firm and consistent effort. If you don't establish yourself as the "top dog," so to speak, he will.

Because these dogs can be dominant if training is not done properly, they will often cause problems during the training process or might become aggressive when training is attempted. If training is begun early, however, and sticks to the concept of firm and consistent, these dogs should pose no problems.

Some Boston Terriers can be hard to housebreak.

Height and Weight

The full-grown Boston Bull Terrier will be about 15 to 17 inches tall and will weigh from 10 to 25 pounds.

Health and Longevity

While these dogs have their share of health challenges, they can live a full and long life.

Some of the health issues include wheezing and snoring, thanks to their short face. They also might have problems in hot weather, and some dogs will overheat with exertion in the heat. Some dogs have a problem with drooling.

Tumors, particularly of the heart and skin, are common in Boston Terriers. Their eyes, which are generally prominent, are prone to injury.

If a Boston Terrier is bred badly, some will have a bone defect in the skull that can stunt brain growth. Though not incredibly common, this can result in a retarded dog.

Most Boston Terrier dogs will live to be older than 15 years.

Suitability

Boston Terriers are very good with children and are excellent when living in a house with senior citizens. This dog is also very good with strangers, so having a houseful of people is never a bad idea.

The Boston Terrier likes to live in a house with other non-canine pets, but generally doesn't get along with other dogs, unless both are introduced as puppies.

How to Guard Your Cars Leather Against Wear and Tear

By Luke Lister

Leather seats in your vehicle are a wonderful asset. They are not only luxurious but are also very comfortable. To keep them looking beautiful and looking like new it is necessary to give your attentions to car leather protection procedures. It is a very easy process and there are just three basic tips you need to know to protect your leather from daily wear and tear.

Leather protection products are easy to find these days. It is up to you which you will use and most of them are really quite good. You will need to use a non-drying leather cleaner for removing daily grime from your seats. Once you have properly cleaned the leather it will need a coat of a good rich conditioner designed for leather. This will replace the precious moisture that will keep the leather of your seats supple and comfortable.

An important consideration for choosing your products should be that the ingredients are natural as these are the safer choice for your leather. Ingredients like UV protectants, mink oil and lanolin make great products to use. The product does need to be non-drying. The energy it takes to use the products on a regular basis will in the long run save you time and money because if the leather is not cared for it will start to dry out and crack and fad.

When you try to restore damaged leather it can be expensive. To save some time and effort you might want to find a product that combines the cleaner and the conditioner. In hotter climates, the leather will dry out much quicker and will need more constant attention.

The first tip is to regularly clean your leather using a product that does not contain any gloss agents, silicone oils or solvents. It needs to be non-drying. To apply the cleaner use a soft brush to gently massage the leather rather than scrubbing. This is a huge key factor to remember. The leather has pores that need to be opened so that they will be thoroughly cleaned and then be ready to absorb the conditioner that it needs. When it is able to absorb the conditioner fully, it will remain supple and luxurious.

Tip No. 2 to consider: Many products on the market are designed with a balanced pH factor that will not only protect your luxurious interior from water spills but from stains. If the leather begins to smell it is because the natural oils in the leather have become depleted by evaporation.

Tip No. Three is about the damage that can happen if you do not protect your leather seats from the rays of the sun. When your vehicle is a convertible, this is extremely important. The direct sunlight will dry the leather quickly so use a sun protector on your windshield and do not park your car in the sun if possible. Use your conditioner to keep the leather moisturized and alternate treatments with a 303 sun-block protectant product.

Following these three simple tips will insure that your car leather protection is effective. As long as you keep your leather clean and conditioned at least monthly, your leather will remain luxurious for many years to come.

A Guide to Getting the Right Dwarf Hamster Supplies

By Chris Copeland

Domestic pets cannot live without the proper support of a human being. It is our role to get our pets the necessary supplies for their health, well-being and maintenance. This is true regardless of what kind of pet you have, even if it is a dwarf hamster.

Get your dwarf hamster the right cage. The right cage is one that is big enough for him to freely move about, especially when you are buying more than one dwarf hamster. Small hamsters will grow over time, so make allowances for this.

Get your hamster a suitable cage. The recommended cages are made from either plastic, wire or a glass aquarium tank. You must remember to place substrate on the cage floor and on the sides of the cage so that your Dwarf hamster has a place to scramble up and burrow about. Install 1-2 inches and 5-6 inches respectively.

Get a hamster potty for your cage and fill it with cat litter (pellet form, if they are not in pellet form, your dwarf hamster might have health complications). You can also fill it with hay. Look for the place in the cage wherein your hamster leaves his poo, and place the potty there.

Very much like dogs and even human babies, these rodents need something to constantly gnaw on. Not being able to do so will cause their teeth to keep growing continuously. So much so that leaving them to grow will make it impossible for it to shut its mouth! So get your dwarf hamster a chew toy. Pet stores will have an array of chew toys available for hamsters, mostly made of soft wood. Make sure you check on the cleanliness of the chew toy every day.

Hamsters need fresh water all the time. You can get those water bottles that hang from the side of the cage upside down. Water bottles are the better choice as compared to water bowls as you do not have to worry about the hamsters spilling the water or the substrate contaminating the water bowl. Fill your hamster's bottle with a fresh water supply every day and check on the bottle to see if it's in good condition.

A dwarf hamster needs a little sanctum within his cage. This is yet another essential hamster supply. They are reclusive creatures and need the peace and privacy that this sanctuary will provide.

Apart from the supplies enumerated above, there is really nothing more that your hamster will need apart from your love and care. They have no special temperature needs or humidity concerns. Your hamster's supplies should be easy to obtain and inexpensive.

Treating A Flea Bite

By Ferdinand Emy

If you have flea bites and start to run a fever, it is very important that you contact your doctor immediately.

These tools are utilized in a sealed room, and blast the entire chamber in chemicals that are lethal to fleas. A flea bite has many characteristics. Use of repellents and giving your pet flea medication can help lower the number of bites that you, your family and your pets have to endure. When you suffer a flea bite, you run the risk of picking up a disease from the flea. As a flea bite can pose an allergy risk to some people, scientists have developed several methods that can be used to quickly eliminate fleas.

It is because they can change hosts that they pose so many problems. Like many parasites, fleas carry remnants of the blood of previous hosts in them. A popular method is through the use of flea bombs or foggers. They are small, and often tend to be red. In many cases, a flea bite will only cause discomfort and itching that can linger for up to two weeks.

The normal bite will take up to two weeks to heal, and does not require doctor's attention unless the wounds become infected. Fleas are parasitic insects, feeding off of the blood of its host for nourishment. This is due to the substance in the saliva of a flea that allows them to bite through the skin. This allows them to change hosts almost at will. However, these chemicals are also toxic to humans, so they should be used with caution and care.

This is one of the reasons that it is suggested that you address a flea infestation as quickly as possible. When you are bit by a flea, it is important that you begin treating your home against infestation. This causes the wound to itch. Often, there will be several bites in a line, where the flea has changed its feeding ground. Nevertheless, there are consequences of getting bitten that many people do not consider.

The sooner a flea problem is addressed, the less risk you run of picking up a disease from them. While they cannot fly, fleas are one of the worlds best jumpers, able to travel distances that far exceeds their body size. If you have suffered from a flea bite, you know how irritating and painful they can be. These bites can cause diseases, as well as minor to severe allergic reactions.

Acoustic Guitar For Beginners

By FX. Steinmueller

As a beginning guitarist, have you ever thought of quitting your guitar? Why your guitar sounds bad no matter how good you squeeze the fretboard? Why your fretting fingers can't stay longer on the fretboard without having pain?

Some people think that a budget acoustic guitar is good enough for beginners because if they decide to quit they don't lose much money. This maybe half true but sometimes people forget that beginning guitarists often stop playing because they feel they can't take the pain anymore without realizing that they picked up the wrong axes.

Cheap guitars are OK as long as they meet the condition below:

Warped neck is not acceptable. Press the thickest string on the 1st and 12th frets and look at the gap between the string and frets. A good neck will leave a small gap only between them.

The second thing to check is playability. If a guitar has a good playability you can play any chords on its fretboard at different position without problems or finger pains. You should feel comfortable playing all over the fretboard.

You should pick a guitar with low action. Action is the clearance between the thickest string's bottom to the top of 12th fret. A measurement of 3mm to 4 mm is desirable. With low action you need less pressure to form chords and this means you will have less pain in your fingers. This increase the guitar playability.

Never neglect the guitar intonation. Good intonation will give you in tuned notes at any fret on the fretboard. It is very common to find a cheap guitar with perfect strings tuning but when playing bar chords on the high numbered frets all you get is out of tune chords. This is related to bad intonation and you can't fix it. If you are in doubt take some measurement on certain frets with the help of a guitar tuner.

Cheap guitars tend to sacrifice the guitar playability and/or intonation. If you are unsure it's a good idea to get one of your friend that has guitar experience to guide you and recommend you some guitars to test. Based on his/her recommendation you then choose one that is comfortable in your hand. Guitar appearance may fool you easily.

With a limited budget you are still able to get a relatively good guitar as long as you know how to make the selection. Just follow this guideline to prevent spending money on something you can't play.

How To Build A Simple Lean-To Shed From Easy to Follow Plans

By Diodorem Mateo

Many of us are finding that we just don't have enough storage space. We seem to accumulate so much stuff, and there never seems to be enough space to store it. As our family expands, our kids accumulate stuff too, so there is an always increasing need to find more storage space.

As our family increased, our garage started filling up with all the extra stuff that children always seem to need. Bikes, toys, outdoor play sets...all filled the shed during the winter months, leaving no room to store the firewood we needed. It was when we had to start leaving the car outside the garage that we decided it really was time for more storage space.

As winter got closer, it became obvious that we desperately needed a place to keep the firewood we would use during these coldest days.

After researching all kinds of shed plans online, I decided that the cheapest and easiest solution to our wood storage problem was to build a shed from some lean to shed plans that I found. The great thing about a lean to shed is that it can sit snug against the side of the house and if you build it from similar or complimentary materials it blends in really well. A lean to shed also stores items close at hand which makes it easier and more likely to be used. Nobody relishes trekking down to the back of the yard during a snowstorm just to fetch more wood!

I was surprised at just how many different types of lean to shed plans there are. It all depends on what purpose you want your shed for. Some lean to sheds have doors on the front, securing them from the weather and making them safe to store fertilizers or sharp garden tools. This keeps both your kids and your pets safe. There are plans for lean to garden sheds, lean to wood sheds, (which need ventilation) or even lean to potting sheds.

I eventually found a simple lean to plan online, which I was easily able to adapt to suit exactly what I wanted. The plan I chose was very easy to follow, and it ensured I didn't leave out any important parts! For example, because I was building the lean to against the house and not free standing, the plan showed me how I could adapt the structure and still make sure it was strong enough to support the roof and doors, and I also learnt a simple technique that explained to me how to waterproof my lean to shed correctly.

So I can now park the car in the garage again, we have a wood shed handy to the house for winter and my family is already filling up the extra storage space. Building my own shed was such a succesful project that I'm already planning my next one. I'm looking at building a pretty gambrel shed in the backyard next time. By using shed plans I know I can save myself a stack of money, which is probably just as well because my eldest is already talking about buying a new surfboard. I'd better make that a big barn style shed for all the extra storage space we're going to need!
